Mrs. Duffey’s Fifth Graders Go Green!
Where’s that Pot of Gold?
- Fifth Grade Student Ambassadors designed a pot-of-gold scavenger hunt for the first graders as their school service project this month.
- The scavenger hunt clues led the students up and down the stairs and hallways until the final clue led them to the pot of gold in their own classroom.
- Ambassadors Alex Pazamant and John Shillberg with their scavenger hunt group found the pot of gold in Mrs. Farwell’s class. (Nate Tofuri, Emmy Kent, Mateo Noguera, Charley Fagan and Scarlett Cooney)

The third graders identified 26 out of 28 book titles correctly. Mrs. Christian’s and Mrs.Gracia’s second-grade classes tied with 25 correct doors each too.
Mrs. Dorgan sponsors the Girls Who Code Club which is a space where members can join a team of supportive peers and use Computer Science to change the world.
- Students learn by reading excerpts from our book The Friendship Code, practicing new skills by completing fun and simple online coding tutorials, and building community through interactive activities with the rest of the Club.
- Mrs. Dorgan has been teaching for 37 years and sponsoring Coding clubs for about 10 years. She will be retiring from Scituate Public Schools at the end of this school year. We will miss Mrs. Dorgan’s expert STEM knowledge and passion for teaching!
- Lucy Gallagher, Madeline Markarian, Riley Burwood, Alex Paszamant, Katie Scanzillo, Avery Noord in the after-school club with Mrs. Dorgan’s STEM classroom (missing members Greenie Morrissey, Aylaa Crowell)
Improve for Inclusion interactive performances highlight social awareness through storytelling.
- Thank you to the Jenkins PTO for funding Improv for Inclusion performance for all of our students. We had two assemblies for K- Grade 2 and Grades 3-5.
- The “improv” element is that students suggested the storyline by offering ideas like “a unicorn at the beach!”
- These ideas shaped the developing storyline that showed the students that they can create a positive, inclusive environment in our school and community.
