Technology

Welcome to the Scituate Public Schools Technology Department! We are dedicated to empowering our entire school community—students, educators, and staff—by providing the tools, resources, and support needed to succeed in today’s digital world.

Here, you'll find answers to questions about Aspen, our 1:1 device program, technical support, and a wide range of other services designed to enhance the educational experience.

Our team is focused on ensuring that technology enhances teaching and learning for everyone. We support a variety of systems, from our student information system (Aspen) to classroom technology, learning management systems, and specialized educational tools. Our 1:1 device program ensures that every student has access to the devices they need.

If you need help or have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we can leverage technology to create an innovative, supportive, and engaging learning environment for everyone in Scituate Public Schools.

SPS Technology Policies

The Student Responsible Use of Technology guidelines and Inappropriate Use policy clarify expectations for the use of school-issued technology and student accounts. These updated policies are included in the student handbook.

Chromebooks

Upon receiving a 1:1 Chromebook, students and families will be provided with a copy of the 1:1 Device Care & Responsibility guidelines, outlining how to care for and manage the school-issued device. By accepting the Chromebook, students and families agree to adhere to the district's usage and care guidelines, acknowledging responsibility for the device.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Students are expected to take proper care of their Chromebook at all times. However, we understand that accidents can occur.  Any device that is broken or malfunctioning must be reported to the school's technology staff as soon as possible.

To report a lost, damaged, or malfunctioning device to the technology department:

    • High School: Please drop the device off at the library with the librarian.
    • Middle School: Please drop the device off at the main office with the secretary.
    • Elementary School: Please bring the device to the main classroom teacher.

Each of these staff members will assist the student in submitting a tech ticket to have the device repaired. In some cases, a school loaner may be issued.

  • If your student is leaving SPS you will need to return their 1:1 Chromebook or other device, and any associated chargers and peripheral devices to the school to which your student is enrolled, and email a notification of the return to Admin. If you leave the district without returning all school property, the district will take the necessary steps to correct the oversight, including invoicing for missing materials and devices, and withholding student records until all items are returned or paid for.
