High School Program of Studies

On January 30 2023, the School Committee voted to approve the high school Program of Studies.  Two key changes are the replacement of algebra based AP Physics II with calculus based AP Physics C and the addition of a lab period to AP Chemistry and AP Physics classes to ensure that our students not only meet but exceed the contact hours recommended by The College Board. Parents who want more information about course registration are encouraged to attend the high school’s February 1st parent coffee hour at 8am.

FY24 Calendar

The School Committee voted to approve the FY24 calendar. Some key points are that there are fewer half days and two full PD days at the start of the year, one full PD day in November, and one full PD day in March; the first day for 1-12 students is 9/5/2023, PK & K students begin 9/6/2023; and the teachers report the week prior. With no snow days, the last day of school will be June 14, 2024.

Superintendent's Leadership Report

Superintendent Burkhead & Assistant Superintendent Driscoll shared the big picture results from our Food Services ThoughtExchange.  The community engagement was excellent with 841 participants, 687 thoughts, and 18,870 ratings!

The key theme for both parents and students was water as a choice for the standard lunch.  Currently, the free school lunch includes milk and not bottled water as a choice.  The Committee briefly discussed personal refillable water bottles vs individual plastic water bottles.

Our new Food Services Director will share information from this ThoughtExchange with his staff and develop a plan to maintain best practices and address key thoughts that may improve our experiences in our cafeterias.
