Grade 8 ELA Mosaic takes form!

Earlier this year, the Grade 8 ELA team was awarded a generous grant from the Gates PTO in order to create a grade-wide mosaic art display. The concept was born out of a series of in-class discussions during students’ reading of Lois Lowry’s The Giver where students recognized that communities are strengthened by the individuality of the people within them. Now, eighth graders hope their artwork can remind all Gates students present and future of this important message, and celebrate the uniqueness of each person! Mrs. Lirosi and Mrs. Townsell transformed their classrooms this past week into art workshops where students have been crafting their own mosaic tiles with symbols that highlight their values and beliefs as individuals. Everyone is excited to see the final product come together in the next few weeks!
