Gates is a supportive and productive place where staff, students, parents, and caregivers work together to create and maintain an environment that allows each student to learn and grow.
Our highly-skilled educators design authentic and challenging learning experiences for students to promote their academic growth.
There are six academic teams at Gates:
- Teams A and B support our sixth graders
- Teams C and D support our seventh graders
- Teams E and F support our eighth graders
Students at Gates participate in World Language in each grade level and our offerings include French, Mandarin, and Spanish.
Throughout their time at Gates, students also take exploratory courses in Art, Computer Science, Drama, Engineering, Manufacturing, Modeling, Music, Physical Education, Research and Media, Robotics, and Wellness.
We believe that students learn best and are engaged most when they are doing authentic tasks.
Teachers collaborate with one another to design units of study aligned to the MA Curriculum Standards with engaging essential questions and lessons that build upon one another to target mastery of content and acquisition of skills. In addition to traditional forms of assessment, teachers at Gates incorporate performance-based assessments into each unit, and students engage in interdisciplinary learning experiences that reflect the core principles of project-based learning.
The Gates community is committed to supporting students’ social, emotional, and personal development. We provide opportunities for students to become connected and to develop strong relationships with the various stakeholders in the Gates community.
